"Something Has To Be Done"
      Being violent is deviant, negative and causes harm to individuals, families and communities as a whole. Domestic violence, gun violence, gang violence and any other specific subject of violence are socially deviant (not normal). In the city that I volunteer and service, is Newark New Jersey; I have lost numerous of my Middle and High School friends because of gangs and gun violence. I have buried family member because of gangs, guns and drugs. At the age of 17 I began a violence prevention and gang intervention effort to change the mind set of socially deviant individuals (mainly teens). Someone had to stand up and something has to be done.

"See It"
       The community I am helping is New Jersey. I am based in Newark New Jersey where I continue 89 percent of my mission. Newark New Jersey is going through a phenomenal transition for economical development for middle class individuals. More jobs have come into the city which is a great thing but the jobs aren't for the residents of the city. These same residents reside in low income housing projects. Secondly, Newark Housing Authority is changing it’s leasing processing and housing process to fit the lifestyles of middle class families. In addition Newark Housing Authority is demolishing three of their largest housing projects in an attempt to rebuild and relocate present tenants. The problem with this is many of the tenants, their kids and other relatives have been exposed to the gang culture for so long that this transition is unwanted and has bread small turf wars. Also this has unearthed long lasting personal wars with cliques, sets and gangs as a whole. Gang violence has plagued Newark for years. Gun violence has destroyed whole generations of this city. People die or get shot everyday in this city over gangs, guns, drugs, girls, and other non-life necessities. Many teens in Newark have followed me for about 3 year now; they are opened for suggestions when it comes to making money positively. This community is more than less for economical and political gain and less about the at-risk teens that are on the verge of becoming gang members. I have seen organizations receive funding for programs that never produced results. I have seen organizations create programs just because the funds were available but never service a teen successfully or educate a teen in a program. The problem I am trying to solve is the gang violence, guns violence, drug violence and give teenagers a program that they will enjoy and learn from. I want to teach them life skills, conflict resolution and employment readiness. I would like to take the teens that I already work with on trips out side of the city to expose them to a new environment and surroundings.

"Innovative Prevention"
I have created a 5 DVD project promoting the prevention of anything negative; using Bate and Which Marketing strategies to get the attention of my targeted audiences. The funds generated from the 5 DVDs have been used to support teen parties and other social events for young adults. I have sold and gave in-kind, about 87,000 DVDs in New Jersey and New York at Flea Markets and events. I have a project that I am finishing up called Fallen Soldiers Victims of Circumstances™. Fallen Soldiers Victims of Circumstances™ is a documentary that I began in 2005 about all the people in Newark New Jersey that have died due to gangs, guns and drugs? This project is also a prevention/intervention workshop for teens, parents and educators. Fallen Soldiers depicts the sadness of death, the reality of gang lifestyles and the ending road for the people that deal with guns and drugs. In addition this project portrays the way death, dieing and shooting has become a social normal in some urban communities today. When Fallen Soldiers is complete, it shall scar a kids straight, get a teen motivated to live for better things and promote prevention.
